If the banner says reject, the tags stay dark.

Consent mode is not permission to fire the same pixels. We implement the banner first, then the tags, then the ads.

UK PECR still expects a real choice. We have walked into live accounts where the banner said reject and the pixel still fired on every page view. That is not a technicality. It is the first thing a reviewer or a lawyer can screenshot.

Order of work: banner, categories, tags behind those categories, then ads. Necessary cookies run the site and remember the choice. Analytics and marketing stay off until allowed.

This site follows the same rule. There is no analytics product loaded behind a silent yes. If we later add one, it will be listed in the cookie policy before it ships.

Clients get a network-tab walkthrough in the setup, not a slide that says “GDPR compliant” in a nice font.
